Bridal trial
Also called: Bridal makeup trial and Hair and makeup trial
A full rehearsal of the wedding-day hair and makeup weeks before the wedding, so the look is decided, recorded and repeatable on the day.
A bridal trial is the appointment where the look is designed. The artist does your hair and makeup in full, exactly as she would on the day, then you look, photograph it in daylight and indoor light, wear it for a few hours to see how it holds, and agree what to keep and what to change. She writes down the products, shades and steps and keeps the photos, so the day itself is a repeat, not an experiment.
It takes around two and a half hours. Come with clean hair and skin, and bring pictures of what you like, the veil or headpiece, and jewellery or a swatch of the dress. Be honest in the chair: the trial exists so you can say a lip is too dark or a curl too tight.
A trial is booked with enough time to adjust it. Hamd Beauty's bridal trial is a full run-through of hair and makeup at home, with notes and photos kept for the day, and it is booked at least three weeks before the wedding.
