Gel manicure
Also called: Gel nails and Gel mani
A full manicure completed in gel colour cured under a lamp, so the nails are hard and glossy at once and stay that way for two to three weeks.
A gel manicure is a classic manicure, shaping, cuticle care and a hand massage, completed in gel colour instead of ordinary polish. The therapist applies a base, one or two coats of colour and a top coat, curing each layer under a small lamp. You leave with hard, dry nails.
Allow about an hour. On natural nails gel usually lasts two to three weeks; it depends on how quickly your nails grow, whether you wear gloves for housework and how the nail was prepared. When it starts to lift, book a soak-off rather than picking at it.
Hamd Beauty offers a gel manicure at home with a fresh file, buffer and orange stick for every client. If you already have gel on, say so when you book. Gel and the popular brand name people often use for it are the same kind of product. For the lamp, allergies and pregnancy questions, the short answer is that exposure is brief and a patch test or a word with your doctor settles any doubt; this is general information, not medical advice.
