Russian manicure
Also called: Dry manicure and E-file manicure
A dry, detailed manicure that uses an electric file and fine bits to lift and remove the cuticle completely, so polish sits right at the base.
A Russian manicure, also called a dry or e-file manicure, skips the soak. The technician uses an electric file with small diamond or ceramic bits to lift the cuticle, clean the nail plate right up to the skin and remove every trace of dead skin, then trims the raised cuticle with fine scissors. Gel is then applied very close to the base, which is why the result looks so clean and grows out slowly.
It takes longer than a classic manicure, often one and a half to two hours, and the technician's skill matters a great deal. The same bits that give the clean line can thin the nail or cut living skin if used too hard or too often. Tools must be sterilised between clients because the work goes so close to the skin.
Hamd Beauty does not offer a Russian manicure. Our classic and gel manicures use gentle cuticle care with an orange stick and softener. If you have had cuts or soreness from e-file work before, let any technician know. This is general information, not medical advice.
We do not offer this at present. It is explained here because people ask about it.
