Nail extensions
Also called: Tips and Sculpted nails
Artificial length added to the natural nail with tips or forms and a hard material such as acrylic or builder gel.
Nail extensions add length beyond your own nail. The technician either glues a plastic tip to the free edge and blends it in, or shapes the material over a paper form that is removed once it has set. The material is acrylic, hard gel or one of the newer pre made soft gel tips that are cured on with a lamp.
A full set commonly takes one and a half to two and a half hours. Extensions need an infill every two to three weeks as the natural nail grows, and a proper removal at the end, otherwise the nail underneath is left thin. Long extensions catch on things, so they suit hands that do not do heavy work.
Hamd Beauty does not offer nail extensions of any kind. If your aim is a neat, long lasting colour on your own nails, book a gel manicure. Anyone who has reacted to nail glue or gel before should tell the technician and consider a patch test. This is general information, not medical advice.
We do not offer this at present. It is explained here because people ask about it.
