Hot stone massage
Also called: Stone massage
A massage in which smooth heated stones are placed on the body and used in the therapist's hands so the warmth relaxes the muscle before and during the strokes.
Hot stone massage uses smooth volcanic stones warmed in water to a comfortable heat. The therapist lays some along the spine, in the palms or between the toes, and glides others over oiled skin in place of her palms. The heat softens the muscle, so she can work more deeply with less pressure, and most women find it deeply soothing.
A session is usually seventy five to ninety minutes, and it is a relaxing massage at heart rather than a corrective one. It suits general tension and anyone who finds firm pressure uncomfortable.
The stones must be heated evenly and checked on the therapist's own skin before they touch yours; a stone that is too hot can burn. It is not suitable on inflamed or sunburnt skin or with a fever, and if you are pregnant, have diabetes, a heart condition or reduced sensation in the skin, ask your doctor first. This is general information, not medical advice.
Hamd Beauty does not offer hot stone massage at present. Its relaxing massage and deep tissue massage are done by hand.
We do not offer this at present. It is explained here because people ask about it.
