Relaxing massage
Also called: Relaxation massage and Full body massage
A full body massage at light to medium pressure, using long flowing strokes to ease tension and calm the body rather than work deep into the muscle.
A relaxing massage is about the whole body and the nervous system, not one sore spot. The therapist works with oil or cream over the back, legs, arms, shoulders, neck and often the scalp and feet, using long gliding strokes, kneading and gentle rhythm. Pressure stays light to medium, and you can ask for more or less at any point.
A session is usually sixty minutes, sometimes ninety. At home the therapist brings a folding table, fresh linen and a face cradle cover; you need a quiet room with space around the table. Wear what you are comfortable in; you are covered by a sheet and only the area being worked on is uncovered.
It suits women who want to unwind, sleep better or ease general stiffness. Avoid it when you have a fever, a skin infection or a recent injury, and if you are pregnant, or have a medical condition, ask your doctor first. This is general information, not medical advice.
