Moroccan bath
Also called: Hammam and Moroccan hammam
A steam bathing ritual in which the body is softened with steam, coated in black olive soap and scrubbed down with a coarse glove to remove dead skin.
The Moroccan bath is a cleansing ritual rather than a massage. You sit in a hot steam room until the skin softens, the attendant spreads black soap, a soft paste made from olives, over the body and leaves it to work, then scrubs you from neck to toe with a rough kessa glove. Rolls of dead skin come away. Rinsing, a clay mask and an oil finish often follow.
A full session takes around forty five to sixty minutes. Skin feels noticeably smoother for one to two weeks, and many women book one before a wedding or Eid, or a few days before waxing. It needs a steam room, which is why it is a spa treatment.
Avoid it with sunburn, broken or inflamed skin, or a fever, and if you are pregnant, or have a heart condition or blood pressure problems, ask your doctor before using a steam room. This is general information, not medical advice.
Hamd Beauty does not offer a Moroccan bath,.
We do not offer this at present. It is explained here because people ask about it.
