Prenatal (pregnancy) massage
Also called: Pregnancy massage and Maternity massage
A massage adapted for pregnancy, with the client lying on her side or propped with cushions and gentler pressure that avoids the abdomen and certain points.
Prenatal massage is a relaxing massage adjusted for a pregnant body. The main differences are position and pressure: after the early months you lie on your side with cushions between the knees and under the belly, or semi-reclined, never flat on your front, and the therapist uses lighter strokes, keeps away from the abdomen and avoids deep work on the legs and certain pressure points.
It is done by therapists trained specifically for pregnancy, and a good one will ask about your stage, any complications and what your doctor has said before she starts. Sessions are usually sixty minutes. Many women find it eases back and hip ache and helps sleep in the later months.
Whether massage is right for you in pregnancy, and from which month, is a question for your doctor or midwife, particularly in the first trimester or with any complication. This is general information, not medical advice.
Hamd Beauty does not offer prenatal massage. If you are pregnant, please tell the team before booking any massage, and ask your doctor first.
We do not offer this at present. It is explained here because people ask about it.
