Lash lift
Also called: Lash perm and Lash lift and tint
A treatment that curls your own natural lashes upward from the root using a shield and setting lotions, so they look longer and more open without extensions.
A lash lift works on the lashes you already have. The therapist glues a soft silicone shield to the eyelid, combs the lashes up onto it, then applies a lifting lotion that softens the hair, followed by a setting lotion that fixes the new curve. A tint is often added at the end to darken the lashes. Eyes stay closed throughout.
The appointment takes around an hour. The result lasts as long as the lash cycle, commonly six to eight weeks, then grows out naturally. The lashes should stay dry and free of mascara or oil for the first day, and a repeat should wait until the previous lift has grown out.
It suits women who want an open, awake look for everyday without the upkeep of extensions. It is not suitable on irritated eyes, or on very short or sparse lashes. The lotions can cause reactions in some people; ask about a patch test before your first appointment. This is general information, not medical advice: if you are pregnant or have an eye condition, ask your doctor.
