Threading
Also called: Eyebrow threading and Thread hair removal
Hair removal in which a twisted cotton thread is rolled over the skin to catch and lift hairs from the root, most often used to shape the brows.
Threading uses a length of cotton thread twisted into a loop. The therapist opens and closes the twist with her hands, and as it rolls across the skin it traps hairs and pulls them out at the root, a few at a time. Nothing is spread on the skin, so it suits women who react to wax, and it can lift very short, fine hair that wax would miss.
Brows take around ten to fifteen minutes. The upper lip, chin and sides of the face can also be threaded. It stings, especially the first time, and the skin can be pink for an hour or so. Regrowth is commonly two to four weeks.
Because the thread follows a line, it gives a crisp brow edge and precise control over the shape. It is not suitable on broken, sunburnt or actively inflamed skin. Ask that the thread is new for you: at Hamd Beauty threading thread is a single-use item opened in front of you.
