Soft wax (strip wax)
Also called: Strip wax and Warm wax
A warm wax spread thinly on the skin and removed with a cloth or paper strip, used for larger areas such as legs and arms.
Soft wax is heated until it flows, spread thinly with a spatula, then covered with a strip that is pressed down and pulled away against the direction of growth. Because it stays soft and needs a strip, it is quick over large areas and is the usual choice for legs, arms and the back.
It grips fine hair well and covers ground fast, so legs are usually quicker with soft wax than with hard wax. It does adhere to the skin as well as the hair, which is why it should not go twice over the same patch in one visit, and why it can feel sharper on thin skin such as the bikini line or upper lip.
Regrowth is the same as with any waxing, commonly three to six weeks. It is not suitable on sunburnt or broken skin.
Ask that a new spatula and new strips be used for you, and that the spatula never goes back into the pot. Hamd Beauty's wax services use warm wax with single-use spatulas and strips.
