Wax strip and spatula
Also called: Waxing strips and Wax applicator
The wooden spatula that spreads soft wax and the cloth or paper strip that lifts it off; both should be new for each client.
A wax spatula is the flat wooden stick used to lift wax from the pot and spread it on the skin. A wax strip is the piece of non-woven cloth or paper pressed over soft wax and pulled away to remove it. Together they are the two items that touch the most skin during a wax.
Neither can be cleaned properly once used. A spatula that goes back into the pot carries whatever was on the skin into wax that will be used on the next client, which is why the practice, known as double dipping, is avoided by careful therapists. Strips are used once and discarded.
What to check: that the spatula is taken fresh from a sealed pack or box, that a new spatula is used each time the wax is applied or at least for each client and area, and that strips are new. You are entitled to ask, and a good therapist will show you.
At Hamd Beauty wax spatulas and strips are single-use items, opened in front of you and discarded when your visit ends.
