Balayage
Also called: Hand painted highlights and Sun kissed colour
A colouring technique where lightener is painted freehand onto the surface of the hair, giving soft, natural looking highlights that grow out gently.
Balayage is a way of placing colour, not a colour itself. Instead of wrapping sections in foil from the root, the colourist sweeps lightener onto the outer surface of chosen pieces, heavier towards the ends and lighter near the root. The effect is the soft, graduated lightness of hair that has spent a summer in the sun, with no hard line as it grows.
A first balayage takes two to four hours and often includes a toner to remove warmth. Because the roots are left darker, it can go three to four months between appointments, which is why it is popular with women who do not want a monthly regrowth visit. On dark Gulf hair the lightener has further to go, so a gentle result may need two sessions.
Hamd Beauty does not offer balayage or any hair colour. A blow-dry or a repair treatment can be booked at home after your colour appointment to bring back shine.
We do not offer this at present. It is explained here because people ask about it.
