Event hairstyle
Also called: Occasion hair and Party hair
Hair styled to hold through an evening: an updo, pinned waves, a sleek ponytail or soft curls set with pins and spray.
An event hairstyle is built to last longer than a blow-dry. The stylist starts on clean, dry hair, adds texture with a curling iron, straightener or hot rollers, then arranges it into the shape you have chosen: an updo, half up, a low bun, a braided crown, a sleek high ponytail or loose Hollywood waves. Pins, a light hairspray and sometimes a few padding pieces keep it in place.
Allow about an hour and a quarter. A well pinned style holds through an evening and often until the next morning. Fine hair holds curl less well than thick hair; a day old wash usually grips pins better than hair washed the same morning.
Hamd Beauty offers an event hairstyle at home for weddings, engagements, graduations and dinners. Decide the outfit and any headscarf, veil or accessories before the appointment, and have a few pictures ready. If you want hair and makeup together, book both and the therapist will plan the order.
