Keratin treatment

A chemical smoothing service that coats the hair in a keratin solution and seals it with a flat iron, cutting frizz for two to four months.
A keratin treatment is a smoothing service, not a conditioning one. The hair is washed with a clarifying shampoo, the keratin solution is painted on in sections, left to sit, blow-dried and then sealed with a very hot flat iron pass after pass. The result is hair that is smoother, shinier and much quicker to blow-dry, with most of the frizz gone. It relaxes curl rather than removing it, and is not permanent.
It takes two to four hours and lasts around two to four months, fading gradually with each wash. Sulphate free shampoo makes it last longer. Many smoothing formulas contain or release formaldehyde when heated; ask to see the ingredient list, ask for a well ventilated room, and if you are pregnant or have asthma, ask your doctor before booking one anywhere.
